Dance and poetry are both forms of artistic expression that can communicate emotions, stories, and ideas through creative movements and language. ‘Poerty In Motion’ is a performance where poems in different languages are expressed through Indian classical dances. The combination creates a rich tapestry of cultural expression. We present a bouquet of choreographies in Indian Classical Dance forms of Kathak by Saumya Shukla , Bharatnatyam by Panni Somi, and Odissi by Virág Réka Túri , based on the works of Hungarian poets Vorosmarty Mihaly & János Sziveri, American writer Maya Angelou, Uzbek poet Hāfiz-i Khorazmī, and Indian writers Jayadeva, Vallabhacharya & Amir Khusrow.
Vocals of spoken poetry are by Burns Katalin , Antónia Zboray & Anna Szabó , and music on the Sitar by Szabi Tóth
„As I collaborate with my artist friends who have inspired me with their dedication to Indian art forms, this performance is a celebration of the diversity of human expression and a tribute to the power of art to unite people across cultures and languages.
This is a dedication to my guru, Alaknanda Kathak whose decades of teachings and memorable productions have taught the true spirit of art collaborations, working together, and being creatively explorative.
